• Accounting, banking and finance courses

  Our accounting, banking and finance courses are developed with professional institutes and industry experts. As well as gaining an academic qualification, you’ll develop the skills needed to stand out in a competitive industry.

  Courses blend research-informed teaching with practical experience, supported by close links with employers. The department teaches across a range of disciplines, courses include finance, banking, accounting, wealth management and trading.

• Business

  Prepare for a career in enterprise and leadership with our hands-on business and management courses. Sheffield Business School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) placing us in the top 6% of business schools globally. You’ll be taught by experts from industry and academia, gaining the latest ideas and knowledge. You'll also apply your learning through real-world projects and work placements – we maintain links with hundreds of employers.

• Engineering

  On our engineering courses you’ll learn in a real-world environment. Based in the £11 million Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre, you’ll use industry standard tools and equipment, from flight simulators, wind tunnels and automotive workshops to robotics labs. You’ll also get the chance to work on real projects and undertake a year's work placement. Courses cover a wide range of specialisms, including aerospace, automotive, electrical, manufacturing and food engineering. Many are accredited by professional bodies, and all are informed by partnerships with major employers.

• Computing

  Our hands-on computing and IT courses give you a head start in a competitive industry. You’ll learn using some of the latest technology, and get practical experience through our links with major corporations, and digital media specialists.

  The Department of Computing teaches courses in a wide range of specialisms, including computer science, information systems, networking and software engineering.

• Art and Design

  Our art and design courses are taught at a restored city landmark, the Head Post Office. You have the space, facilities, tools and inspiration to develop a creative voice and a clear career path. You'll get expert teaching from active practitioners and researchers, and time to experiment in fully equipped studios and workshops. At the same time, you'll learn to work on real-world art and design briefs through our links with commercial clients and the creative industries.

• Education/Tesol

  We’re home to the Sheffield Institute of Education, a national centre of excellence for teacher education and are one of the biggest providers of teacher education in the UK, with a large network of partner schools, colleges and education establishments.

  Our TESOL centre has an excellent reputation for innovative and inspirational teaching. Our courses are inspected and accredited by the British Council and are continually developed to ensure they’re meeting the needs of students.

• Tourism and Hospitality

  Our courses combine practical experience with academic understanding to help you succeed in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

  We work with employers ensuring you learn the skills you need. We are one of only three institutions in the world to achieve international accreditation from EPAS.

  Our students gain practical work experience on placements around the world, from Disneyland in Florida to hotels in Dubai, as well as with major tour operators like TUI.

• Biosciences and Chemistry

  Our Biosciences and Chemistry courses provide flexible learning pathways to prepare you for a wide range of graduate employment or further study.

  You will study in a research-informed environment using state of the art industry standard lab facilities and equipment.

  Postgraduate programmes include the specialisms of cancer biology, molecular microbiology and pharmacology and biotechnology.
