• MSc Data Science

  In today’s world, almost every interaction we have is through digital technology—whether it’s on a computer, smartphone, camera, or smartcard. These interactions create data, which can be analysed to improve decision-making, systems, and research.

  Thanks to advancements in technology, computational power, and machine intelligence, a new field has emerged: Data Science.

  Instead of just focusing on business metrics or financial markets, we’re now analyzing data about people and the world they live in. As Jake Porway, Executive Director of DataKind, explains: “A data scientist is a rare combination of a computer scientist, who can build software to manage data from various sources, and a statistician, who knows how to extract valuable insights from that data. They prototype new ideas and ask the most important questions about what the data can reveal.” This course is designed for people like this.

  Built on the expertise of the Mathematics and Computer Science departments, this program blends new technologies, groundbreaking research, and fresh scientific perspectives to prepare you to shape the future of society in meaningful ways.

• MSc Robotics Engineering

  Robotics is on the cusp of an exciting new era as robots become more reactive, intelligent and human-like, as well as finding applications in a range of industries including consumer and healthcare robotics.

  We are in the midst of an increase in the pace of technological change and the changes in the coming decade will be a magnitude of order greater than anything that has gone before. A paradigm shift is about to take place that will forever change society; our ability to manufacture novel robots and new artificial intelligence techniques will both change the way we interact with technology and will allow technology to interact with us and our world in a far more nuanced way.

  This new MSc Robotics Engineering reflects recent software and hardware technological advances and exposes students to new, much sought-after skills and up-to-date areas of research. Recent technological advances are incorporated into the course by developing novel cross disciplinary approaches and subject areas such as Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality.

• MSc Public Health

  Public health is a critical concern across the globe, requiring skilled professionals equipped to address complex challenges. This master’s programme is designed to provide students with in-depth subject knowledge and advanced research tools to analyse key public health issues and contribute effectively to improving health and wellbeing at local, national, and international levels.

  Jointly delivered by the Faculty of Human and Digital Sciences and the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, this programme benefits from the expertise of two leading academic disciplines. It complements an established portfolio of undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD programmes, fostering a vibrant academic community dedicated to public health and social care. Through this multidisciplinary approach, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of public health dynamics and develop the skills to drive meaningful change in diverse contexts.

  Graduates of this course will gain a profound understanding of the essential pillars of modern public health—prevention, promotion, and protection—while exploring key issues at local, national, and international levels. They will acquire advanced quantitative and qualitative research skills to investigate public health challenges and will engage critically with contemporary models of leadership, delivery, and management in public health. Moreover, students will develop the capacity to design, execute, and assess high-quality public health interventions, ensuring their readiness to lead transformative initiatives that promote health equity and improve community well-being worldwide.
