Experience a new world of learning – for free

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to study at a UK university? You can now take a one of more than 300 free online courses, created by more than 35 UK universities. The courses cover a wide range of topics, such as A History of Royal Fashion, Environmental Justice, Understanding Anxiety, Depression and CBT or Influenza: how flu spreads and evolves.

And now with the Study UK campaign, residents of 143 non-OECD countries can receive free digital upgrades.

What is a digital upgrade?

Upgrading means you can:

  • get unlimited access to courses
  • take courses at your own pace
  • refer to the material at any point.

Through the online courses, you will experience what it is like to study at a UK university for free and from your home country. Digital certificates will give you recognition for your hard work.

Are you eligible?

You must be based in a country that receives Official Development Assistance (ODA). Visit our Frequently Asked Questions to check if your country receives ODA.

Please note: anyone can do a course for free on the FutureLearn platform but free upgrades are only for international learners living in ODA countries. This is because the British Council is committed to increasing access to learning opportunities in developing countries.
