Staffordshire University 

Staffordshire University has over 100 years of education heritage, dating back to 1914. It became North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1970 and was granted university status in 1992. The City campus is based in Stoke-on-Trent and features excellent learning and teaching facilities, good transport links and stimulating social spaces. The University has Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education in Stafford and at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, with considerable investment in these specialist facilities. The institution’s first London campus, the Digital Institute London, opened in September 2019.

Staffordshire University was one of the first higher education institutions in the country to teach computer science and we continue to lead the field today with the highest rated course in the country for computer game design and esports. 

GREAT Scholarships 2021

Staffordshire University has two GREAT Scholarships available for the 2021-22 academic year for one student from India and one from Malaysia for any subject.

Esports is a cutting-edge subject designed to give you the skill set needed to work within a growing number of jobs in this flourishing industry. Studying under internationally renowned course leaders in a university with one of the largest computer games schools in the UK, you’ll learn exciting new skills that will enable you to fully immerse yourself in the esports ecosystem. You will be expected to develop higher level research and analytical skills through the development of a substantive research project of your choice. The focus will be on strategic level management skills, influencing policies and practices in the industry and developing a critical awareness of the sociological, political and legal landscape.

Mechanical Engineering and Sustainable Technologies - Students will gain skills in the major engineering functions allowing you to work in a senior technical or project management role within industry.   Your final thesis can be chosen to suit your specific career aspirations. We can also connect you with local engineering companies. Our modern workshop facilities include specialist mechanical and thermodynamic laboratory support, a design studio with over 70 workstations, manufacturing facilities including CNC machining, rapid prototyping systems and a fully equipped test laboratory. You’ll also have the opportunity to use a wide range of software tools for design and simulation.

Robotics and Smart Technologies enables you to experience an expert knowledge of the multi-discipline areas of robotics, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, smart cities and ‘internet of things’ for network-enabled products. You’ll get a practical understanding of the use of robotics both inside and outside of the industry, as well as embedded systems, the use of network-enabled devices in the home, autonomous vehicles (both automotive and aeronautical), and the use of artificial intelligence.
