In order to support more Indian students to study in the UK, the British Council, together with 12 UK universities, has launched the GREAT Scholarships 2020 – India programme. With 13 postgraduate scholarships on offer, the total value of India's scholarship scheme is over £120,000. The single value of each scholarship is a minimum of £10,000. This scholarship scheme will offer an exciting opportunity for Indian students wishing to get financial support to pursue postgraduate level study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, with most scholarships covering all postgraudate (taught) subjects.

For academic year 2020/21, Imperial College London is offering three GREAT Scholarships worth £10,000 each: one for Indian students, one for Indonesian student and one for Turkish students, in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering or Medicine. 

Newcastle University

Newcastle is offering one scholarship in Engineering for Chinese students, and one scholarship each for Indian and Turkish students in all postgraduate programs.

For academic year 2020/21, Sheffield Hallam University is offering three scholarships worth £10,000 each, to students from Indonesia, India and Malaysia studying a postgraduate taught degree in any subject (one scholarships per country).

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

University of Bath

The University of Bath is offering two scholarships worth up to £25,000 for Indian students. It is also offering two £10,000 scholarships, one for Chinese students and one for Turkish students, across a range of postgraduate courses. 

University of Cambridge

Cambridge has attracted many of the very best minds since it was first established in 1209.  It comprises more than 20,000 students, including 7,500 graduate students (of whom about 50% are from outside the UK). The University of Cambridge is offering four master's scholarships worth £20,000 each: one for Indian students, one for Malaysian students, one for Indonesian students, and one for Chinese students. 

University of East Anglia

University of Kent

The University of Kent is offering scholarships for one Indian student, two Chinese students, one Malaysian student, one Thai student and one Turkish student. All are worth £10,000 across all subject areas. Deadline for applications is 31 May 2020


University of Manchester
